How will I be working with you?
I'm integrative, meaning I draw on various schools of psychotherapy to meet your specific needs. Each person is complex and thus require a tailored approach to their own unique needs.
I'm also committed to ongoing training to offer the most up to date and effective healing tools.
First of all, I listen very carefully to what you say and how you feel. This attentive listening is essential to help you gain clarity about your life, as well as insight into your true needs and desires for healing and moving forwards. It's not a one way conversation though, I asked question, make suggestion, I get involved.
My main inspiration comes from the Relational life therapy (RLT) model developed by Terry Real. RLT compassionately address negative behaviour delving into their origin (trauma) and guiding individuals towards healthier ways of relating with themself and with others.
To help explore and heal past trauma, I utilize tools such as inner child work, rewind technique, hypnotherapy, mindfulness, self-compassion and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
Inner child work is a powerful way for reconnecting with the past to understand where our core beliefs come from. Ultimately it helps us reparent our wounded parts and move towards health.
Mindfulness is a vital practice for developing awareness of our triggers and create enough mental space to address trauma in a more rational manner. With regular practice, mindfulness helps us recognise our habitual thoughts and reaction patterns, allowing us to create distance and respond thoughtfully rather than automatically when we feel overwhelmed. The awareness empowers us to choose our responses.
Self-compassion is important for shifting away from harsh self-criticism towards more self-esteem and warmth for ourselves. We would never speak to a suffering friend with harshness and contempt and yet we do that to ourselves all the time. Practicing self-compassion allows us to attend to our own vulnerability with understanding and kindness and ultimately contributes to fostering healthy boundaries and growth towards feeling good enough.
Cognitive behavioural therapy( CBT) helps us identify how our automatic thoughts contribute to feeling of anxiety and depression. By gaining insight into our thinking patterns, we can utilise CBT tools to cultivate a more constructive and positive mindset.
Relaxation is beneficial for managing anxiety and stress offering a soothing effect on the nervous system during time of distress. Regular relaxation practice can significantly enhance mood, reduce anxiety and depression episodes, and improve overall physical well being.
Hypnotherapy employs techniques to induce a deep state of relaxation or trance, allowing for direct work with the subconscious. In this state, it becomes possible to transform deep seated negative beliefs that drives self- defeating behaviours .
